John T. Lawler, Tenn., C.S. A.

John T. Lawler, First Lieutenant Seventh Tennessee Cavalry, Co. C.; Promoted Captain, wounded at Medon, Tenn., August 31, 1862; again wounded at Britton's Lane, Tenn., September 1, 1862; again wounded dangerously in four places while leading the Regiment on breastworks at Colliersville, Tenn., October 11, 1862; Later he fell into the enemy's hands while wounded.

Military Annals of Tennessee.

John T. Lawler, the senior officer present, being in command of the Seventh Tennessee, which took a conspicuous part in every charge, and especially in the initial one which captured the train. During one of the fiercest charges made by this command many of the regiment were killed and wounded, Capt. Lawler being among the latter. He received four wounds, one of which shattered his arm, while leading his men. Being unable to travel, he subsequently fell into the hands of the enemy.

Captain Horace I. Hodges.

Captain Horace I. Hodges.

Birth: 1818, Massachusetts.
Death: April 19, 1864, North Carolina.

Wife: Sarah Mather Hodges.
Married October 23, 1844.

Children: Hattie, Sanford M., Margaret Dwight Hodges.

Burial: Bridge Cemetery, Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.

Horace I. Hodges was appointed from Massachusetts, He was a Captain in the United States Army Volunteers.  was also Assistant quartermaster.He was at the captured of Plymounth, North Carolina, by the rebels, April 12, 1864.

Hodges drowned on April 19, 1864, while attempting to carry orders from the commanding officer at Plymouth, to the United States gunboats.  At the time of the captured of Plymouth, Horace was carrying public funds in the amount of $1,265 dollars and 40 cents, which was lost.

Note.  His pension index card states he was Capt. Co. A. 2nd., M. U. S. Volunteers.
