Lieutenant Colonel W. H. Cheek.
Captain W. H. Cheek, Warren County, was promoted Lietuteant Colonel, commissioned October 17, 1863, was wounded near Yellow Tavern. He returned to fight 5/9/1864. He had been captain in the 9th., North Carolina Cavallry, Company E., after his commission he served on the Field & Staff of the 9th., North Carolina Cavalry. His birth is unknown as well as his death and his grave has not been found.
