John Kasht, or Kosht enlisted February 19, 1864, Age 18, for 3 years.  Mustered out with company July 26, 1865.

Battle of Cloyd's Mountain, May 9, 1864.

Private John Kosht or Kasht, of Co. G., a recruit eighteen years of age was the first to reach the guns.  He sprang, from the ranks, with a boyish shout, and hung his hat over the muzzle of one of the guns.
