John L. Ware.

Birth: May 20, 1845, Henry County, Indiana.
Death: Feb. 10, 1891, Henry County, Indiana.
Burial: Locust Grove German Baptist Cemetery, Henry County, Indiana.

Wife was Susannah Nestleroad Ware (1857 - 1924).
Children were, Florence Theresa Ware Triplett (1880 - 1965) and Goldie Ware (1889 - 1902)

John L. Ware enlisted October 15, 1864, at Evansville, Indiana, age 19, Substitute for William Miller. No muster out roll. Cavalry/ Battery Unit: U. S. Colored Troops

He was in the following battles: Boonville, Wilson Creek, 2nd Boonville, Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Helena, Pleasant Hill, La., Jenkins Ferry Arkansas, Price’s Raid.

William Halliburton.

Birth: 1823.
Death: 1906.
Burial: Confederate Home of Missouri Memorial Cemetery, Higginsville, Lafayette County, Missouri.

He was a Lieutenant of Freeman's Battalion Regiment Rogers' Brigade, company C., of Roger’s Brig. Was transferred to the M. S. G. 7th, Mo. Cav., Co. C., Asst, Gen., Div., Inspector, 1861. In the Spring of 1862, was commissioned First Lieutenant, and sent to Missouri to raise troop for Gen. Price. In July 1863, he assigned First Lieutenant company C., Free Mason’s Batt’n. He was relived at Evening Shade, Arkansas, October 7, 1863. Where he was captured and taken to St. Louis, Camp Chase, Johnson’s Island, Point Lookout, Fort Delaware, Morris Island and Fort Pulaski.

He enlisted in Company C, 5th Missouri Infantry C. S. A., as a private, at the age of 18 or 19, the year was January 11, 1862, enlistment was at Bolivar Mo., Was in the engagement at Elk Horn. Discharged for disability August 18, 1862.

G., 3rd., regiment 8th., Div., Battles; Boonville, Casthage, Wilson’s Creek, Lexington, Elk Horn, Farmington, Iuka, Corinth, Baker’s Creek, Port Gibson, Big Black and Vicksburg. Transferred to Co. F., 5th., regiment infantry, December 1, 1862. Deserted on the retreat from Morton Miss., February 1864.

Was in the following battles; Wilson’s Creek, Lexington. Elk Horn, Iuka, Port Gibson, Baker’s Creek, Siege of Vicksburg. After the siege of Vicksburg crossed the Mississippi River.

Was in the following battles; Bee Creek, Elk Horn, Corinth, where wounded, Ga., Camp., 1864, severely wounded at New Hope Church, Ga., June 1, 1864.

B., ranks private & sergeant, age 30, enlisted on January 1, 1861, at Springfield Mo., was in the following battles; Blues Mills, Lexington, Elk Horn, Farmington, Iuka, Corinth, Port Gibson, Baker’s Creek, Big Black, Vicksburg, Ga, Camp. 1864. Altoona, Franklin were captured sent North.
Note. One card says he was captured in May of 1865, at Louisville Kentucky. Had also been Cockrell’s Brig.
