This is the fourth and last page of the Dragoon regiment, I hope you have enjoyed reading all the information on this page as will as the other three pages. When I first started I did not have any idea the information would be so much. You may have noticed already that some of the years repeate themself, this is so but take note, although some of the years are repeats you will notice that the months do not, this is be cause every few months the army came out with a new Appointment and Promotions list. So if you passed over a year because you thought it was a repeat, you may went to go back and take a another look, you may have missed that ancestor you were looking for. Captain Bartholomew Van Herr, Captain of a Troop of Light Dragoons, appointed to act in the Department of Provost Marshal, having represented to the Board, that he has made repeated Endeavours to enlist Men into his Troop, but finds it impossible to do it at the Continental Bounty, and the Board being convinced of the great Utility of this Corps and that their Services are immediately wanted for the Support of the Discipline of the Army and Police of the Camp,
Resolved, That if any of the states, in which Captain Bartholomew Van Herr shall recruit, for his troops of marechasseurs, shall give to persons inlisting in the same, for three years, or during the war, the bounty allowed by the State, in addition to the continental bounty, the men so furnished, not being inhabitants of any other of the United States, shall be credited to the quota of the State in which they shall be enlisted.

the Petition of Moore Faunt Le Ray late a Major in the Regiment of Light Dragoons, Commanded by Col. Stephen Moylan Beg leave to Report.

That the Petitioner stands charged with the Sum of Three thousand Dollars, received by him from the Military Chest in the year 1777, which sum he alledges to have laid out for the recruiting and equiping the Troop, which he commanded during the War, in the Fourth Regiment of Light Dragoons commanded by that Officer; and that he had delivered up the Accounts and Vouchers of his disbursments in the year 1779, to Col. Moylan who had neglected to return the same to the Pay Office.

That it is stated to this Board by the Commissioner of Army Accounts that Col. Moylan had received from the United States sundry sums for the use of his Regiment, for the expenditure of which he had rendered no accounts, although frequently applied to for the purpose; and that this neglect has induced the Commissioner, in the Settlement of the Accounts of the Officers of his Regiment to make Stoppages, in order to cover any balance which might be due from them on account of advances received from Colonel Moylan.

On the above Memorial; the Board beg leave to observe that it would be improper to attempt any redress of the grievance complained of by the Memorialist, before Col. Moylan has rendered his Accounts and Vouchers of the Advances made by him to the Officers of his Regiment; more especially as the Petitioner has it in his power to bring Colo Moylan to Account by legal process provided he can sufficiently establish the delivery of his accounts and vouchers, as stated in his Memorial.

They are further of opinion that the Commissioner of Army Accounts should, without delay, take the necessary measures for bringing Colonel Moylan to account for the sums advanced to him, in order that Justice may be done to the United States as well as the Officers of his Regiment, whose Accounts through his neglect are still open.
Under these circumstances, they submit to the consideration of Congress the following Resolve,
That the petition of Moore Faunt Le Rey together with the Report of the Board of Treasury on the same, be referred to the Commissioner of Army Accounts to take Order.

Monsr De Guijon, a Lieutenant of Dragoons in the service of France, was sent from York Town with General McIntosh to be employed as he thought proper. He acted as a Lieutenant in a Regiment at Fort Pitt. General McIntosh represents his conduct in a favorable point of view. He now applies for farther employment; but on being told he cannot have it, he agrees to return to France, if furnished with some means to get there. The Board being of opinion that it is better to grant him a sum of money to enable him to embark than to retain him here at expence of the United States, beg leave to report:
That the sum ofdollars be paid to Monsr De Guijon to enable him to prosecute his voyage to France, it being impracticable to employ him in the service of these States consistent with the present arrangement of the Army.

August 7, 1780.

Officers and privates, so serving as volunteer horsemen in the southern department, during the present campaign, shall be intitled to the same pay and rations as officers and privates of the continental light dragoons, with an addition of one-sixth of a dollar in specie, or other money equivalent, per day, for the use of their horses; such pay, rations, and allowance, to commence from the time of their arrival at head quarters, or joining any detachment of the southern army, by order of Major General Gates; provided that such horsemen shall engage to serve during the campaign, or at least for the term of four months, after they shall join the army, or a detachment thereof, unless sooner discharged.
That, if any horses belonging to such volunteers shall be killed or unavoidably lost, while in actual service, Congress will credit the State to which the owners of such horses belonged for the value; provided, that such horses shall have been properly valued, on oath, agreeably to the laws of the said states, as in cases of horses impressed, and that the valuation do not exceed one hundred dollars in specie for one horse.
