For Life, now that sounds like a long time, but for the following names that may not be all that long. These men and women were asking for a pension, and would get it however as much as 30, 40 and in some cases 50 years would pass before they would see a pension. So to say they got a pension for life is not saying a lot. Here's one way to look at it, lets say Mr. Jones was in the War of 1812, and was 21, when he enlist and went through to the Wars end ( 1815 ) he is now 24, and has put in for a pension and would receive it 30, years later now he’s 54. Now the average life span at this time was between 50 and 60 years, and to say you got a pension for life at 54, years is not saying a lot.
There are a lot of names and for this reason there is little information, but as these names, all had Bills that pass Congress, these Bills will have a lot more information. So if you see a name and would like to have the information, you can write to me, my address can be found in my profile.
Note. These information comes from the Library of Congress.
