Birth: Jul. 29, 1833, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
Death: Nov. 23, 1867, France.
Burial: Woodlands Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.

Father: Hartman Bache (1798 - 1872).
Mother: Marie Del Carmen Meade Bache (1810 - 1877).

Civil War Union Army Officer. He was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant in the 16th United States Regular Infantry on May 14, 1861, and was promoted to Captain on October 25, 1861

He was brevetted Major, US Army on December 2, 1864 for "faithful and meritorious service in the field" and Lieutenant Colonel, US Army on April 9, 1865 for "gallantry and meritorious service during the operations resulting in the fall of Richmond and the surrender of General Lee". He resigned his commission on November 16, 1865.

I have had a book for many years, Idylls of the King by Tennyson, published in Boston in 1859. On the flyleaf is a signature, Francis Markoe Bache, Cambridge, Mass. September 22, 1860.

Hi, I did some research on these folks some years ago as they are on my husbands family tree:
Richard Meade Bache born Feb 16, 1830 died 1907.
Aglae Bache born Dec 25, 1838 died Februay 7 1926.
