Lewis Benedict.
Birth: Sep. 2, 1817.
Death: Apr. 9, 1864.
Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. He served during the Civil War as Colonel and commander of the 162nd New York Volunteer Infantry. He was captured at Williamsburg, spent months in various Confederate prisons, led attack on Port Hudson, and was killed at Battle of Pleasant Hill, Louisiana. Before the War he was an Albany City Attorney and a New York State Assemblyman. Wife:Susan Stafford Benedict (1791 - 1869.)
